KitchenAid’s high-end refrigerators are becoming increasingly popular with homeowners who are remodeling their kitchens. The sleek design adds a modern edge to even the most contemporary kitchen design. Although the stainless steel (and new black stainless steel!) are the most popular styles, some of the built-in refrigerators are available in the panel ready design to match your cabinetry. The KitchenAid refrigeration line offers some great features, making it one of the top high-end refrigerators produced by Whirlpool Corporation. Here are a few of our favorite features.
Some of the refrigerators feature the Preserva™ Food Care System, which claims to help keep your food fresher longer. How do they do it? The Preserva System is designed with sequential dual evaporators to offer better humidity control in the refrigerator section. Plus, the refrigerator and freezer sections have independent temperature controls and fans, so each section can be set at the perfect temperature. This special design keeps the refrigerator section at an optimal 75% humidity, which is the ideal humidity for storing fresh fruits and vegetables.
This brand also features the Produce Preserver, which is a device installed in one of the drawers that extends the life of fruits and vegetables by removing ethylene from the air.
According to Consumer Reports, your luck with a KitchenAid refrigerator will depend on which model you choose. Customer reviews show that KitchenAid bottom-mount freezers are extremely reliable. Their top-freezer models are also very reliable, and you can’t beat the price! The side-by-side refrigerators are not as well ranked by consumers for their design. We think it is still a sound appliance mechanically. Though to be fair, side-by-side refrigerators in general do not get very good reviews. And above all, do your research and look at refrigerator reviews online before you buy, so you know what you are getting into!
